on Chawanzaka street, the slope to the Kiyomizu temple. 
A lovely three-colored marumochi dango filled with grained bean paste, mitarashi, and green tea bean paste.
Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside.
Each ball stuffed with different bean paste, small enough to eat in one bite.

A popular long-established store in Kyoto

【eX cafe Gion Yasaka】a very popular Japanese-style cafe in Arashiyama is now in Gion.

【Kyo-dango Fujinami Kodaiji Temple store】 Kyoto style dango, on Nene's Road, related to Nene(the lawful wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi).

Mitarashi dango and warabimochi have been popular in Kyoto for centuries.
Fujinami carefully selects ingredients and deliver freshly made products.
Raw warabimochi, ideal for a souvenir comes in three varieties:
kinako(soybean flour), brown sugar, and matcha green tea.

Retro-style sweet shop【Amato-Chaya Umezono Sanjo Teramachi Branch】

Established in 1927, having a long history
There are 6 stores in Kyoto, some retro old-fashioned, some modern.
Each store has a different exterior and menu.

Delicious hand drip Japanese tea and iroriyaki(sunken hearth)【irorichaya nanakorobiyaoki】

A 2-minute walk from Keihan Line Fushimi Inari Station.
This café is a renovated machiya (townhouse) with counter seating only.
Choose tea leaves in test tubes or from recommended ones.
Carefully pour hot water over them by hand drip and enjoy a delicious cup of tea.
You bake dango on a cute rabbit-shaped irori in front of you.
The set includes namafu(wheat gluten mixed with rice flour) and yatsuhashi,
which is very Kyoto and also includes fried tofu, probably because it is near Fushimi Inari Shrine.
You can spend a relaxing time while enjoying the sunken hearth grilling.
Please try「Ishiyaki kyodango」dango simmered in an earthenware pot(^^♪.
Dango and namafu grilled on irori, available for ordering additionally.

Aburi Mochi, a specialty of the Imamiya Shrine gateKazariya

It is not exactly dango, (^^; but
if you search for dango restaurant in Kyoto
Aburimoch will definitely come up.
There are two Aburi Mochi tea shops located opposite each other
on the approach to the east gate of Imamiya Shrine.
On the north side is Ichiwa, founded in 1000.
The south side is Kazariya, which has been in business since the Edo period.
To make Aburi Mochi, you tear rice cake mochi into thumb-sized piece
and stick it in a bamboo skewer about 20cm long.
Then you dip it in soybean flour and carefully roast one by one over a charcoal fire.
You dip it in a secret sauce based on white miso soybean paste.
At Yasurai festival, a ritual to pray for the eradication of plague and disease
(second Sunday in April), visitors eat aburimochi and pray for good health.
Freshly baked mochi with sweet white miso paste, chewy and delicious!
